1.  What do verses 1 and 2 teach us about God’s expectations of His people and His judgment on them?
           

2.  For verses 3-6 and 8, what do the questions imply in each verse?  What is the overall takeaway message that Amos is trying to get across from verses 3-8?

3.  What can be inferred about Israel’s condition that God would call the Philistines and Egyptians to come observe her?


4.  What things had Israel stored up in their citadels?  Why does Amos keep referring to the citadels?

 

5.  Why would a shepherd try to snatch part of a sheep from a lion’s mouth? 

 

6.  What do the things recovered in verse 12 tell us about the lifestyle of the Israelites?  In the same manner, if something was salvaged from us today what would it be?



7.  What significance to the Israelites is there to the horns of the altar being cut off?  What two men are recorded as hanging on to the horns of the altar in 1 Kings?

 

8.  What does verse 15 tell us about the financial state of the Israelites?  What good will this do for them when the judgment of the LORD comes?
